for everyone

ANCALERTS has been tweeting Rep Casino’s remarks on pre-paid SIM registration just this morning. Here are the four tweets that got my attention and my reaction:

[ANCALERTS tweets of Rep. Casiño’s opinions are in italics, my replies, which I failed to tweet in full are the paragraphs directly below it]

Rep. Casiño: The proposal to register SIM cards will have hurdles to go through. It also raises the question of how realistic the proposal is

It’s a big undertaking and anything that is bound to have a huge impact is bound to have obstacles. That is why we were gifted with unlimited knowledge-we find ways how to implement a solution. We break barriers that impede us to attain what we need. No idea is impossible and unrealistic especially when lives are at stake. You just need foresight and determination.

Rep. Casiño on registering SIMs: Kung ang kriminal di magpaparegister / magnanakaw na lang ng SIM, citizens become vulnerable to privacy abuse

This is clearly someone opening his mouth without the necessary background in information technology. What the Telco’s need to do is set a registration period for the present pre-paid SIMs in use, after the registration period expires all unregistered SIMs will be rendered unusable. It can be done. Even I can code the program that performs that exact task.

And when it comes to registering the SIM, we could go the way of Singapore and other nations; they ask the owner of the SIM to present a valid ID which will be subject to strict verification. It’s not completely fool-proof (what is?) but it is just like hacking of Apple’s iDevices, you add one additional step before the hacker finally gets into the device; you at least deter those incapable of hacking that additional step for the device.

Rep. Casiño: SIM card registration a false solution at this point. Why not invest more instead on our police training, forensics capability?

The time is now. We are already years behind other nations in the realizing the importance of SIM registration. No matter how trained our police are, crime involves a process, a set of stages for it to be accomplished. One of the steps, and it is the most vital, is communication. It does not matter if it’s a carnapping or a bank robbery or something as simple as triggering a bomb, there is always the need for a means to communicate.

We take that one, yet vital stage (communication) in the process of a crime then we gain a step ahead of the criminals in preventing the crime. It is simple logic and you do not need a degree in Computer Science to understand that.

Casiño: There are better improvements we can do rather than trying to register 80M SIM cards. Kung database nga ng GSIS nagkakaleche-leche eh.

Again this dude failed to do research. GSIS is very different. I am in the IT industry. There was a failure between the agreement of GSIS and its software/hardware provider. Add the fact that the technology used at GSIS is already more than a decade old compared to the technology we use now.

So there you have it. I like Rep Casiño and what he represents before however given his views on the importance of SIM registration, I can very well say, he lost a believer in me. We need to implement SIM registration as soon as possible folks. Either we make the sacrifice now or we continue with the sacrifice of innocent lives.

Eisenheim was tasked to overhaul the User Management module instead of the static task names which was already agreed upon 12 months back, his clients now want dynamic task names.

As a software engineer that would mean a major overhaul in the structure of an already robust code. Eisenheim obliged and two weeks of the anticipated man days of one month has just passed and the functionality that was requested is up and running. He did test its functionality on the client’s test deployment environment.

The result of the test is that no matter what words or letters appears in the task name, when the user clicks on it, it will still redirect to correct transaction page. Success! There is only one problem, Eisenheim forgot to rename the task name he tested to its original name.

This is what is supposed to appear (see image below)

Since he forgot to rename the task to the original name, the menu rendered the task name to its test task name. The IT staff and users of his clients saw this on their test machine (see image below)

As expected, his clients were at DEFCON 1. Eisenheim's team mates which were stationed at the two branches of the client's institution were escorted out of the premises by two security personnel and one IT staff. Picture Neo in the Matrix movie where he was talking to Morpheus over the cellphone and Agents were at his workplace. He and his team mates are saying it's an overreaction.

Eisenheim submitted his courtesy resignation letter barely six hours ago.

Let it be known and let it be written in history that Rolando Mendoza is one sick bastard that should always be remembered as a lunatic, psychopath that massacred innocent lives. And let his family take the shame forever and for the generations to come that from their flock, Rolando Mendoza came and brought us international shame.  Let it be remembered every August 23rd

I followed the hostage taking via twitter. I was disappointed with ABS-CBN and GMA that they were tweeting links to their facebook account regarding the hostage taking. It is a well known fact that facebook is now blocked by network admins in most companies. Though we can use proxies or u95 to work around that, still it takes time to do that.  I had to make do with the tweets, which is limited information and not follow the links. It was only when I arrived home that I was finally fully updated to the crisis via TV.

I stand by what I tweeted at four in the afternoon yesterday. It would have not ended in a blood bath. Rolando Mendoza would have surrendered peacefully. The fact that he extended his deadline thrice and has set some hostages free will attest to that.

And now the billion peso question is why did he finally decide to kill all of his hostages?

You size up Mendoza and the way he thinks. In his desperation to get reinstated to the PNP plus benefits, his very sick mind decided that the way to go is hostage a bus full of tourists to grab attention. He sets a 3:00PM deadline and extends it twice or thrice perhaps when prodded by his brother.

To those think-tanks or hostage crisis experts in the PNP that should have been their Rosetta stone to a peaceful ending of the hostage drama. It clearly showed that Mendoza though desperate, can be swayed by his relatives, which brings me to the billion dollar question:

Why did the PNP for all the world to see and Rolando Mendoza to monitor via TV inside the bus arrest in that manner his brother? And do not give me the bullshit that it is the media to blame because they should have not aired sensitive scenes like that.

You have a desperate Rolando Mendoza backing down from his deadline because he was convinced by his brother and you arrest his brother in that manner. We do not need a psychology degree to know what will happen next. And happen, it did. And it is a shame.

The PNP should not be blaming the media; in fact if them PNP was as intelligent like me they could have worked that media coverage to their advantage. One thing of utter importance to hostage situations like that is that when you sense that an option is the only option to ending the crisis peacefully you give all your support to that only option. In this case the only option is Mendoza’s relatives. But I guess them PNP brass who handled the hostage crisis is incompetent at their best. And their incompetence couldn’t have chosen a better time because here we have tourist lives at stake.

You put yourself in the Mendoza’s shoes and you think like Mendoza. The hostage-taking started before noon. And from that we can be sure of the ff:

1.      Eight hours has already passed, Mendoza might have planned to take the bus hostage before that. He might have been awake 6-8 hours before he took hostages or he may have not slept the night before. He did not plan to take hostages the moment he woke up. Everything was pre-meditated.

2.      Hence, we can roughly estimate that Mendoza has been 16-24 hours without sleep.

3.      The human body is still human, and everyone grows tired, before the arrest of Mendoza’s brother, he might be contemplating surrender.

4.      Still going without sleep for that many hours Mendoza is a ticking time bomb, one small mistake or action on the PNP’s part will trigger him to do the unthinkable

5.      Since it’s a tourist bus, there is a TV installed. Mendoza is surely monitoring what is happening outside. He even asked for media people. Clearly indicating that he’ll be monitoring everything via TV or radio.

Now given these factors the PNP should have promised heaven and earth to Mendoza, this is not the US, the PNP could have just backed down later from their promises just to spare the lives of everyone on board. That is what negotiators do. They negotiate. They lie. They do everything they can just to get the hostage’s lives back to safety.

I would have told Mendoza that he’ll be reinstated; I’ll even provide all the paper work, that was his demand in the first place. However after he releases his hostages, still he’ll be reinstated, but I’m gonna go hammer and nails in charging him with terrorism etc. for taking tourist hostages. That will result in his reinstatement being revoked.

Isn’t that how it should have been done in the first place?

Hell no. the PNP handling the situation in all their pea-brained intellect chose to arrest Mendoza’s brother on live TV. They even put all their eggs in the basket of the bus driver who managed to escape and was proclaiming that everyone in the bus was dead. Again, we do not need a degree in psychology to assess that the driver was in shock; his statement that everyone was dead was out of trauma he experienced inside the bus.

So they storm the bus ala PNP-style:

1.      Break all the windows and not have a plan as to how to open the bus door.

2.      Use teargas inside the bus and not having any gas masks when they enter the bus.

3.      Use a rope with a tensile strength below what is needed to pull the hydraulic doors of the bus.

4.      Surround the bus, knowing that Mendoza was monitoring their movements via TV

5.      Did not exercise crowd-control, hence a minor was caught in the crossfire.

6.      Use flashbang grenades and do not enter the bus immediately, hence Mendoza already recovered from the flashbang effect.

7.      Most important of all, they assumed that everyone was dead except Mendoza.

I shiver at the thought of that last item—they assumed Mendoza killed all his hostages. WRONG PNPricks! If you’re the hostage taker you’ll still leave some of the hostages for you to use as a shield. And you never assume everyone is dead. Imagine the horrible ordeal of the hostages left alive. All that teargas and flashbang grenades and gunfire, those people are scarred for life.

The end always just not justify the means, and it goes both ways, to that psychopath Rolando Mendoza and to the incompetent PNP that handled the hostage crisis.

You fucking asshole! Who do you fucking think you are? Do you really believe that when you breathe the whole world breaths with you? You sleep and we all fucking sleep? Well I got bad news for you and I beg to the Gods that your sorry excuse for a brain figure it out, you run and everyone else does not care one bit. You are not even microscopically significant in the evolution of the universe.

You’re one fucked up son of a bitch, trying yourself so gaddam hard to be fucking significant and you still don’t get it. No you won’t fucking get it, your silly excuse to understand things that really matters lack the very basic comprehension that we higher beings take for granted. You have an IQ of a fetus! My apologies to all the fetuses out there, at least them fetuses know when to be birthed.

Fuck you bitch and everything that you represent. Piece of advice dickhead, take off the mask motherfucker! Your nothing like me, you’re fucking beneath me, way, way below down there. You cannot be like me; you suck at everything that you fucking do. You are not even as significant as my butthole motherfucker!

And do not ever point your fingers at me and my hypocrisy, even my hypocrisy is way above your fucking holier than thou hypocrisy.

You are nothing and I wish that life would be kind to you and just take your life when you sleep tonight. And if in case life would be so harsh and still give you another breathing morning tomorrow, do yourself a fucking favor bitch and slash your own throat. You deserve it, you fucking deserve to die.

Believe me, this world started without you and it will not stop or even hesitate one bit or halt without you.

Fuck you bitch and stay the fuck away from my gaddam interface! Up your ass!  ,,|,, -_- ,,|,,

If we gobble up every social networking site that comes out then all we’re gonna be doing for the rest of our lives is signing up to every social networking site just to be updated and connected and that completely defeats the purpose of a social networking site.

Besides the fact that I hate social networking sites sprouting like mushrooms after the rains that completely regresses the point of being a member of a social networking site because of the need to get connected with friends from the past and present. Here are some issues with Facebook that methinks would be better understood if you read it for yourself.

Now I’ve been arguing that Facebook is a goldmine for hackers to have an intelligent guess at your passwords and they have been arguing that you need not post any sensitive information on your FB account. But those who are knowledgeable about that comprises, in my own calculation, about a fifth only of FB users.  Where does that leave us with the majority of FB users?

Even children who barely know how to secure the burglar alarm of their homes are into FB, even Annicka has an FB account and she is only eight. Picture this, though most are advised not to put in sensitive information whether they’re going out of the country, or even tagging the photos with real names of your relatives. How will the children know? No one even reads the Terms of Service (TOS) of FB.

I’ll let you in on a little secret,  years ago when Eisenheim used to hack yahoo mail accounts, it takes Eisenheim  a week and Eisenheim has been ‘backdooring and bruting’ yahoo mail accounts using the forgot password and security question option. With the advent of Facebook, it now takes only a day. And if you ask Eisenheim to hack into FB accounts, an hour or two max. Some of Eisenheim friends can attest to that.

Another argument of theirs is that you can be bogus in FB, a non-entity perhaps but still connected to your friends. However, Facebook has touted its culture of authenticity from the beginning. It asks users to go by their real names on the site, and it deletes obviously fake profiles.” So you can never be someone ‘unreal’ in FB.

In addition, FBs bread and butter is advertising the FB users themselves, FB is selling your personal information to advertisers, in what I will refer to as, ‘specific person target advertising.’ Now how does that differ from the advertising we’re being hounded now, by TV, print media and the internet?  Most of the three mediums I mentioned targets not a very specific audience, though it hopes so. It’s like an advertising gamble that the results might be for a generic taste people group.

To better explain it, picture this: I’m an advertiser and I want to sell my eureka product which is, say for example a vibrating tampon.  Now I can go the way of the traditional advertising and target a generic audience, ads all over the world and that will shoot my advertising costs to the roof and the people response would be at around 20% maximum. Or I can go to FB and advertise to a specific group of its almost a billion users, those who are really interested in my eureka product. And FB having already built a database of its users interest and an algorithm that returns a plus or minus percentage of a number of people who MIGHT also be interested in a specific product that will eventually drive my advertising costs down and advertising only to my targeted set of people. Of course I pay a premium to FB for that.

We pay for satellite TV or PPV to rid ourselves of the interruptions by advertisers. We control our internet browsers to rid ourselves of those annoying advertisement pop-ups. We set-up spam control in our email accounts to rid ourselves of spam advertisements. Yet we sign-up to FB and let Zuckerberg do the exact opposite.

Privacy is sacred to most people and FB selling your interests to advertisers is not privacy. I’ll be expecting a flood of arguments, that when we sign-up to a social networking site, we are giving up our privacy because, GADDAMIT, it’s a fucking social networking site in the first place and this is the internet and everyone can see your every relationship status update. FB is not clear on that issue in the first place. And I quote “For Facebook, being seen as a company people can trust with the personal details of their lives is key. Users will only share information if they have control over who sees it.

Even Zuckerberg said it himself "The kernel of what we do is that people want to stay connected and share with those around them" those around them, fellow users or those in their friends list, NOT the advertisers.

But then again maybe it’s just me not in FB.

I WILL KEEP THIS VERY SHORT AND SIMPLE.

Five days to go and we undergo our first automated elections. Less than a week from now and we can be hopeful of a new government that will rescue the Philippines from the slump that the Gloria Arroyo took us down with.  That is if the three following scenarios do not happen…

1.      The elections fail.

Judging from the timeline of the implementation of the computerization of the COMELEC, the elections have already failed. If you’ve been in the software industry long enough, you would know that deployment and implementation of this computerized mechanism for our elections less than a year before what we call in the industry as ‘go live’ phase is just too short of a time.

Even if Smartmatic claims that they’ve implemented their automated elections in other parts of the world, being in the software industry will assure you that there are bugs that bound to surface come ‘go live’ time.

Even Microsoft in all its might and Apple in all its power knows that there are bugs every time there is a new software or hardware release. Beta releases of their software are done in months or maybe a year’s time. Even the iPhone 4G which Gizmodo has luckily uncovered because of Gray Powell being unluckily drunk has been found out to be undergoing field testing months before its scheduled release. And these are only phones and operating systems. Here we have the automated elections which would decide the outcome of the long awaited elections in the Gloria Arroyo era.

The automation of the elections should have begun five years ago for us to be insured of a robust and trustworthy computerized election. Which makes you wonder why it was done in haste, perhaps to make waste? And in doing so the Gloria Arroyo era goes to infinity and beyond.  It will only take 10% of the elections to fail and Gloria Arroyo continues her reign.

2.      The election gets hacked.

Smartmatic and COMELEC are both proud of their encryption of the transmission of the PCOS machines of the elections returns. Whether it is just an 8-bit encryption or a 1024-bit used in the transmittal of the PCOS machines, hackers couldn’t care less.

Here is where the weakness of it all lies.  If anyone is knowledgeable in hacking and be given the chance to hack the elections, one weakness is the use of GSM technology to transmit the encrypted data. GSM in itself is hack-prone, every two-bit hacker has hacked into an SMS being transmitted. Be it used to spy on their significant other or to track password or credit card information for personal purposes.

And now you would say, so what if GSM is hack-prone. If Smartmatic uses even just 64-bit encryption it would take them hackers at least a week’s time to ‘brute force’ the transmission and that is with the help of mainframe computers.

WRONG! They encrypt the transmission phase. But what Smartmatic is not telling the Philippines is how they plan to ensure security the minute the central machines RECEIVE the transmitted data. Everything is exposed at the RECEIVING end. I can encrypt my data in the highest bit possible but I will have to decrypt that data on the receiving end because no matter what they feed you about security and encryption, there is no computer in the whole world that can process encrypted information.

There are now actually three things that we can be sure that can happen the first two we all know are death and taxes. The third is COMPUTERS WILL DECRYPT ENCRYPTED information in order to process that information and I have not heard Smartmatic or the COMELEC assuring us how they plan to secure the decryption phase of the transmitted encrypted data from the PCOS machines, at least no one has asked yet or no one has yet exposed that flaw.

3.      We vote for Manny Villar.

I am voting for Noynoy Aquino however I am against the surveys being released during the campaign period. Aquino is leading the surveys and I should be supporting the surveys. I am not in favor of the surveys; they condition the minds of the people. There are Filipinos who are intelligent enough not to follow the surveys and vote for the candidate they truly feel would better serve this nation but then again, they are but the minority of the vote. The majority, being the less intelligent enough would go for whoever is leading the surveys.

That is why Villar gunning for the lead in the surveys leaves a bad taste in the mouth; add to that the black propaganda against Aquino. But then again, I’ve already said that in my previous post, during the election campaign period, the kitchen sink is just not enough to ensure a seat as president.

It all backfired for Villar because within just a week before the elections he eventually tied on the second spot in the surveys with Estrada, clearly not what he was expecting since he has given his campaign all his money’s worth.

Aquino and Villar are the two most prominent to win the presidential race. Aquino has everything to thank for the legacy that his parents has imparted to the Filipinos while Villar can attribute his to his wealth. Villar has got the best endorsers that money can buy.

And now we have what I will call the ‘tres muskiteros’ Villar infomercial. The ‘tres muskiteros’ being no other than Willie Revillame, Manny Pacquiao and Dolphy. The best ‘tres muskiteros’ endorsers that money and Manny can buy.

Willie Revillame endorsing Villar, the same Willie Revillame who told the ABS-CBN management and all of us that it very well alright to desecrate the funeral of Corazon Aquino in exchange for advertisers in his show and in his network. That sick state of mind endorsing Villar for president, if you would follow his lead, what does that make of you?

Manny Pacquio endorsing Villar, the same Manny Pacquiao who I revere as a boxing icon, who is also in my list who I would dream to have a Nikon still posed with among with Quentin Tarantino, Stephen Hawking and the like. Still, I am firm in my stand that Pacquiao is God when it comes to boxing and sports but that it where it all ends. Pacquiao has limitless knowledge when it comes to boxing and for  that he will be my idol for as long as I live, however he has shown borderline defectiveness when it comes to choosing who is best for governance and politics. He is an idiot in endorsing Villar.

Manny Pacquiao lost in General Santos City the reason mainly because Gensan people also know that Pacquiao is for boxing and lets leave him a hero in his specialty but that is just it. And let us not forget that Manny Pacquiao has always supported Gloria Arroyo, and it could not be more clearer that his talent is really for boxing alone and when it comes to choosing the best for governance and politics he is but an imbecile in good judgement.

Even Villar has admitted the fact the Pacquiao could not deliver the votes by his endorsement alone. But then again Villar being tied on second spot with Estrada, the Villar advertising machinery is desperate.

Dolphy endorsing Villar, the same Dolphy who up to now could not marry Zsa Zsa Padilla, the same Zsa Zsa who is the mother of Karylle, the same Karylle whom Dantes left for Rivera. The same Dantes and Rivera endorsing Aquino. The showbiz conspiracy as I would like to call it, but then again all is fair in love and politics and relatives.

Now if we follow the Villar advertising machinery’s stand that we vote for him because Aquino has not yet walked the talked then how do we heed Dolphy’s advice that we vote for Villar when Dolphy has no experience whatsoever in politics and was even very vocal about it years ago that he has no plans to enter politics because as he said it “eh paano kung manalo?”

Do we heed the comedian’s advice in the twilight of his life and career or we heed Vilma Santos’ endorsement of Aquino being backed-up by her years of public service experience in Batangas?

Okay I’ll give you this, not every one of us believes Aquino is the best candidate for the presidency, so here is a better alternative. If you do not want Aquino to lead us, so be it. But do not vote for Manny Villar. Vote for anyone else but him. Go for Perlas or Gordon or, I could not believe I would be saying this, but go for Teodoro even if he is the administration candidate, and you still would not believe what I am going to say next… go for Estrada even if he was a convicted plunderer. But still try to reconsider Aquino, he is after all the best among the flock.

All of them are better than Villar. Believe me. Villar is a businessman. The Philippine presidency is the biggest business possible for every business-minded person in existence. A candidate going all-out with unlimited coffers to be president is what logic will tell you IS the worse possible president to be.

Five days from now we will usher in a new era in Philippine governance, let us make sure none of the three reasons I mentioned in this post happens.

I never saw this coming. David Guetta did it with Kelly Rowland first, if my history serves me right, but trust Tiesto to up the ante, to the extremes perhaps. This is one uber GV track! Tiesto rulez!

This is however the toned down version. Torrent or Frostwire it for the super GV version =)

for everyone

If you have been keen enough, you might have noticed that there is something terribly wrong in this Villar infomercial. At 0:21 Villar said "Hindi na kailangan magnakaw o mangibang-bayan"

Villar can blame his publicist or ad agency for this, still it all points to him. Now what is terribly wrong with that?

He defined 'pagnanakaw' and 'pangigibang bayan' as the Filipino solutions due to poverty. Now this tells a lot of what a person Villar really is. Remember that Villar has been 'helping OFWs' in his infomercials way even before he declared that he is gunning for the presidency. To put 'pagnanakaw' and pangingibang bayan as two of the measures that Filipinos resort to is maligning our OFWs since 'pangingibang bayan' is a noble cause whereas pagnanakaw is not.

OFWs sacrifice the normal family life for their relatives. 'Magnanakaws' just take what others worked for and call it their own. There's a 'kasabihan' that goes "nahuhuli ang isda sa sarili nyang bibig" or something to that effect. If a person admits the fact that we can all resort to 'pagnanakaw' to get some food in our mouths, then we should be very wary of that person.

'Pagnanakaw and 'pangingibang-bayan' are galaxies apart in comparison. 'Pagnanakaw is evil.' 'Pangingibang-bayan' is good and noble. The embedded video is Villar's vision and it reeks of...what? There's is always something more than what our eyes see.

Vote wisely! Remember, seeing someone always on Primetime TV does not mean that he is always the best choice. We have to read between the lines. The Filipino voter's intellect has always been underrated by the candidates. Vision ni Villar is terribly wrong.

GENES

Marz did pop the question again, why choose Noynoy seeing there are more able ones? And now I have to exclude my reply that the apple does not fall far from the tree. I would be excluding that in the following paragraphs after these three, however let me further that argument of mine first.

For the past decades, there has been quite a lot of outpouring of non-support for genetic engineering; one reason is that we do not tinker with how God blueprinted each and every one of us to become unique as individuals. There are those who have been very vocal for their non-endorsement of genetic engineering and there is also the silent majority who does support it. Take it this way, people joke around before jumping into marriage “uy, maganda lahi nyan” or “matatalino pamilya nyan, tiyak, maganda or matalino magiging anak ninyo nyan.” now that half-meant joke is in reality half-meant.

Noynoy parents are both heroes. Who would you rather choose the presidency to be married with? I agree that Noynoy is not Ninoy or Cory but, hey, the genes are with Noynoy. And genetic engineering as we know now would be very challenged to engineer a candidate who has the genes of two national heroes and one of which has a shot of being beatified as a saint, besides the fact that Noynoy genes came naturally and was not altered by our science.

VICES

Before I jump to opining about the candidates for the presidency, let me first opine about the running mates. Remember, it is a well known fact that we are voting for two presidents, the vice president should always be as able as the one we are choosing for the presidency. Because as history would have taught the world, the vice president is just a heartbeat or juetenggate away from being president. It has been immemorially told that we learn from our mistakes, now we do not want another mistake of a vice president like GMA squatting again in Malacanang.

Forgive me if I will fail to mention all the candidates  it is not because all those I will be mentioning has a shot of winning or the popular ones rather they are the ones who I have opinions to begin with and I have very limited time in writing this.

MAR ROXAS: before Roxas slid down to the vice-presidency I thought that he is one traditional politician. The padyak infomercial was one dead give-away that anyone having a pro-poor stand is in reality abusing the pro-poor stance. And then came the marriage proposal and the scheduled marriage for the entire world to see and coincidentally done just before the elections. The Filipino political climate has always brought out the best and worst popularity propaganda in every candidate.

What really turned the tide to Roxas’ favor is when he slid down to the vice presidency in lieu of Aquino. Now we have a candidate who is honest in putting the country first before his ambition. We did not hear from Roxas “my loyalty to my party ends where my loyalty to my country begins” which every thinking Filipino is all bull to begin with. That quote is always been a lie to mask the reality that the one saying it is in all wisdom pursuing his/her personal ambition.  We have another Mayan long count calendar to go before we realize the importance and wisdom of the United States’ two-party system.

If Aquino and Roxas would trade places, I will still vote for Roxas even with my eyes closed.

LOREN LEGARDA: ever since Legarda entered the Filipino political landscape, I have always been her believer. She is a prime example of a Filipina who has all the qualifications of a senator, vice president and even a president. I need not say her numerous accomplishments and her scandal-less stint in politics. I have always voted for her in all the elections I had I chance to vote. Besides Cory Aquino, Legarda is the only Filipina in politics that would make you believe that a woman is always the best man to do the job.

However, she is pushing her candidacy under the shadow of the most corrupt, hated and damned Philippine president. Again, it is always a woman who is the best man to do the job; in this case, GMA overwhelmed even the memory of a man that is Marcos.

Though Legarda has a clear shot at the vice presidency, the Filipinos are currently under the trauma of the worst president ever in its history. Add the fact that the current squatter at Malacanang made its way thru the vice presidency’s backdoor. If Roxas was not a vice presidentiable, my choice would be Legarda, but I will have reservations, not because Legarda is suspect but for the very reason that she is a she and is shadowed by GMA.

EDU MANZANO: now where did he come from? If I hadn’t known better, his break-up with his current flame Pinky Webb might have been for the reason that he was stupid enough to accept the administration’s offer to be Teodoro’s running mate, anyone in his right mind knows that being endorsed by GMA is a kiss of death. I pity Manzano. The administration was clearly skimming the bottom of the barrel for a vice president.

I may have my history incorrect, but I presume that this is the first time that an administration party had a hard time convincing anyone to be anointed as its vice president. And though I disgust GMA and everyone she represents, I really am, pitiful of what they did to Manzano.

JEJOMAR BINAY: Before the respective candidates for presidents formally said they would be running for president, I have Binay in my crosshairs for the presidency for the reason the he is an opposition candidate and being the opposition in this dire times is the only glimmer of hope for me. Well, also, Binay did a lot for Makati. And Binay did a lot more for the opposition at Makati.

Makati has been the staging ground of almost all opposition activities in the streets. Binay has transformed Makati to the present Plaza Miranda or Mendiola when almost all mayors in the NCR chose not to cross swords with the present sick administration. And for that Binay has earned my respect and my vote if he ever did run for president.

BAYANI FERNANDO: need I say more? Fernando was the brains (or no-brainer for that matter) of the U-Turn slots, which I am in all contrast, those U-Turn to stupidity slots is just outright, well, STUPID! Besides my fear of the Philippine flag’s colors from blue to baby blue and the red to baby pink, I or we cannot allow someone in the peak of his stupidity to become vice president. The peak? Yes, in his peak of stupidity.

The simplest answer is always the best solution. Proper traffic management is the solution not the stupid U-Turn slots. Fernando, discipline the drivers in using the intersections and there is no need for those stupid U-Turn slots. There’s a monument to his stupidity paid for by the people’s taxes and it is that one humongous stupid elevated U-turn slot at C5.

I need not even discuss Fernando in this post, but I will be opining about Richard Gordon later, hence the need to background the personification of the word stupid—Fernando. And you should’ve seen his answer when asked how he will eradicate poverty, when the administration was contemplating and who will they anoint as the administration candidate. Google it!

PRESIDENTS

RICHARD GORDON: Gordon is good. Gordon is articulate. Gordon has transformed Subic way beyond our imagination. His stint as a senator is also untarnished. Besides the fear for our sovereignty to be challenged again, I cannot vote for someone who has chosen Bayani Fernando as his running mate. As they say it, garbage in, garbage out. My graduate studies at LaSalle has taught me well, if you can summarize in one or two sentences one or as many pages, that is just much better. I can summarize my vote against Gordon in just two words—Bayani Fernando.

JOSEPH ESTRADA:  when you apply even as a janitor, one of the requirements that you must present is an NBI clearance. Estrada is a convicted plunderer, pardoned but still a convicted plunderer. How fast the Filipino forgets. EDSA 2 is EDSA 2 and the spirit of Filipino unity against abuse and corruption is in both EDSA 1 and 2. It’s just a pity that Estrada is now using the apologies aired by Cory Aquino of her participation in removing Estrada’s administration.

I hold Cory Aquino in high regard but I also know that she is human. That time when she apologized to Estrada was the time when GMA is at the peak of monstrosity and almost anyone would choose the lesser evil because during GMA’s monstrosity peak and this is GMA’s most star quality, almost anyone is resigned to the fact that the only option is GMA or a lesser evil.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the highest position in the land we are voting for, is it not enough that almost all candidates have some skeletons inside their closets that we are entertaining the fact that Estrada to be become president again when all the world now knows that his skeletons has long been exposed and was actually convicted with?

GILBERT TEODORO: I have been very vocal that among the presidentiables, Teodoro is the most intelligent. Had Teodoro been with another party besides the administration, I might choose him given his excellent track record and we’ll also have a first lady we could all be proud of, aesthetics or not to boot. And we badly need one today since we’re coming out of the shadow of a disgusting first gentleman.

But Teodoro chooses to be anointed by the administration. Ask yourself. If you were given the chance to be endorsed by God or Lucifer, who will you choose to anoint you? And do not give me the bullshit that this is the elections and this is not the fight between good and evil. This is the elections and this is already a fight between good and evil ever since. We do not vote for a demon. We do not vote for anyone that GMA blessed.

Because if we do, we are justifying what GMA did all these years. If we vote for Teodoro we are accepting the fact that we are the most corrupt country. We are not giving justice to the Ampatuan massacre victims. We are allowing the memory of Jose Rizal’s death to be tarnished forever by GMA’s lie that she would step down and will not seek reelection. If we vote for Teodoro, we are voting for GMA to be Pampanga’s representative and have a shot to be prime minister and once again rule us.

So what if Teodoro is the most intelligent among the flock? Marcos has always been more intelligent. So was Hitler. GMA was also the most during her time and being an economist at that. And where did it get us?

Teodoro is NOT GMA and I agree with that, however let me reiterate what the Catholics profess during baptism, “Do you renounce Satan and all his works?” I DO. Do you renounce GMA and all her works? If you do, DO NOT vote for Teodoro. The parallelism could not be clearer. If there is any love for country left in you, you will not vote for anyone allied with GMA.

MANNY VILLAR:  there is a chant that even kids whistle to the tune of these past weeks “si Manny Villar ang magtatapos ng ating kahirapan…” oh really? How? Not even Barack Obama in his first quarter of presidency has managed to strengthen the United States out of the worst recession in global history and it is already the United States I’m speaking of, the only remaining superpower. Yet even Obama did not promise a chant close to the chant that Villar is singing.

Villar outdid the padyak infomercial of Roxas. He even went beyond that by his latest chant. Again six years is too short a time for poverty to be eradicated. How can Villar promise to eradicate poverty in the first place? If you will compare the Philippines and the United States, we’re again, another Mayan long count calendar behind to what the United States has achieved. Hell, even the computerized elections which the Americans has been doing for a very long time now is just being tested for the first time here and the 2000’s is already behind us.

You do not promise to eradicate poverty in one fell swoop. You can say that you will promise to change the culture or diminish poverty but you do not sing “…ang magtatapos ng ating kahirapan.” Because it insults our intelligence.

Villar is an example of a traditional politician who will not stop at anything to get the vote. Who can blame the Filipinos? Most are glued to mass media and popularity that seeing Villar’s infomercials has already made them hallucinate that Villar is the one that “magtatapos ng ating kahirapan.”

Seeing someone on television everyday will make you believe in that person. Even elevating that personality to God status. Take Willie Revillame for example, who is now treated as God by his minions and followers, little do his followers know is that in reality it is not Revillame who is giving them the prize money that they hope will eradicate their poverty, it is the advertisers for that matter. It is the audience that the advertisers are wooing hence the higher the advertising fees for that show hence Revillame can give higher prize money.

And let’s not forget the fact that Villar tried to woo Revillame as his running mate or one for his senatorial slate. Again, a prime example of a traditional politician who will do anything to get the vote.

And there was Manny Pacquiao who Villar has managed to convince to endorse him. I am a fan of Pacquiao, in the ring but when it comes to politics, I am against him. I even wrote a post against his running for congressman of General Santos City years ago.

Let Pacquiao endorse Nike, let him endorse any energy drink or any sports-related product, but for the love of God, we need not heed his endorsement of a shampoo or a candidate. He knows sports. He knows boxing. And I am all praises for him with that in mind but let politics be endorsed by someone else.

Popularity does win votes. But look at where it got us with Joseph Estrada. Being popular or being intelligent does not guarantee the best president for us. Villar is riding the wave of popularity of every popular person he bumps into. And we should be very wary of that.

Another thing that we should be very wary of is Villar’s candidacy cost. Primetime TV costs a lot of money and seeing how Villar is drawing all his guns for this campaign of his, we could not help but suspect that there is a long list in his pocket of persons he is indebted with in his very expensive campaign sortie. If he wins, it’ll be payback time and that chant will probably mutate to “si Villar ang lalong nagbabaon sa atin sa kahirapan”

NOYNOY AQUINO: among all the options, he is the only moral choice we have. He may be carrying the weight of the Luisita massacre in his back but hey, this is the elections and the mudslinging is always muddier, the scandals more scandalous. The kitchen sink is just not enough to clinch a win especially in the election culture we’ve known since anyone can remember.

Why Aquino? Besides the first three paragraphs, ponder on this-among all the candidates for presidency, Aquino was the only one who did not plan to run for the highest office in the land in the coming 2010 elections. I have to agree with my father, who by the way is going for Villar (I think) that Aquino, just like anyone else in politics is also eyeing the presidency for their belt notches; however Aquino was not planning it for 2010. Aquino is now going for the presidency because his mother died. Because the clamor for the good to vanquish what is evil is louder because we lost the last great president we have. (With Noynoy, I would be proven wrong and I hope for that) This 2010 is Aquino’s destiny. Heroes come when they are needed the most. Heroes are not always the strongest or the tallest or the most intelligent. Heroes are the simplest among us. Heroes do not plan to be heroes. It is only when the situation calls for it and then a hero shines.

The Philippines as we now know it is deep in the shit hole of GMA’s legacy of the most extreme negatives the whole world could ever imagine. We need a president who did not plan to be one but was destined to be one. We desperately need a hero who did not plan to be a hero but was destined to be one. We need someone who is on the side of good because everything is almost evil now. This is, I repeat, a battle between good and evil. This is a fight between justice and injustice. Lets us all put the struggle between pro-poor and pro-rich in the backburner for the time being. That propaganda has long been abused by the most evil in this country. Because if you believe that being pro-poor equates that we can all recover in the shithole we are in, then you are at most at the very height of your own stupidity pedestal.

Anyone smart knows that we first eradicate the bad and all else will follow accordingly. This coming elections let us all not make the mistake we have done many elections before. Let us NOT choose someone who is the most intelligent or pro-poor. Let us choose like how we were supposed to choose in the first place. Let us choose someone who is pro-good and an unplanned hero.

OF PRESIDENTS...

Of all the candidates for president in the 2010 Filipino elections only one is declaring that he is for the good and this is a fight between good and evil—Noynoy Aquino.

for everyone

I have been tweeting that the Ampatuans should be tortured to near

death every day, for the rest of their fucking lives and I’m adding GMA to that list. Everyone by now knows of the Ampatuan massacre already. Unless you’re living in your own asshole and being a dickhead like someone I know who doesn’t care one bit as to what happened to Maguindanao on that darkest day for journalists, women and children alike.

The Ampatuan assholes are crying foul because according to their airheadedness, they are being persecuted and being tried not by lady justice but by publicity and the hand behind all of these is their political enemies. They even went overboard as to thinking that we are dickheads like them by saying that they have no part in the massacre. And they actually believe that we’ll swallow their whole gaddam alibi that it was the MILF’s doing.

Now that particular alibi for me is an insult to our common sense and I believe that an insult like that deserves nothing less than the Ampatuan assholes to be tortured to near death every day for the rest of their sorry excuse of a life.

You need not be pursuing graduate studies to know that the Ampatuan assholes are the ones responsible for the massacre. They have all to gain from it, the gaddam self-proclaimed gods of Maguindanao, who orders others to their dirty work for them. Well, I got news for them Ampatuan assholes, let go of your posse and let’s get down and dirty, I doubt that you can be faster on the draw against me. And if you Ampatuan assholes are too scardy pants to trigger duel with me we can always do it the old way with fists, still, give me five from your clan and I’ll kill myself if you Ampatuan assholes beat me.

The Ampatuan assholes want Mangudadatu dead because he’ll be contesting their incumbent Ampatuan asshole of a governor. By all means Ampatuans assholes, kill Mangudadatu but spare the women, children and journalists. Didn’t you Ampatuan assholes ever have a mother? A sister? Or even a grandmother? There is a silent rule in the law of the lawless that the firing ceases when women and children are present. What are you Ampatuan assholes trying to prove? That you can get away with it all? In this age of Twitter and Facebook, you Ampatuan assholes honestly believe you can bury the massacre under the backhoe that bears the Ampatuan asshole seal?

The Ampatuan assholes couldn’t be more brazen than the time when they delivered their unholy mother GMA the much needed votes when they cheated FPJ during the last presidential election. GMA thinks she’s numero uno as far as being shameless is concerned, well, think again, here we have your student surpassing your virtue of brashness—the Ampatuan assholes.

Now we got GMA declaring martial rule in Maguindanao over the weekend. And now we have those giving her the thumbs up or down for what her press secretary is saying as a ‘decisive decision’ I do not know how they flower their words, but a decision is already decisive once you make it. Ahhh, GMA’s past decisions may have not been decisions after all I’m sure it is with the exemption of cheating FPJ in Maguindanao.

“Damned if you do, damned if you don’t” this may be GMA’s line after declaring martial law in Maguindanao. But then again GMA is not seeing the whole gaddam picture. It is not declaring martial law be it unconstitutional or not that is the problem. It is her leadership that is the problem. When your leadership is suspect in the first place, you have already lost the belief of the people that you lead. If it was not GMA declaring martial law in Maguindanao, if it was another president who the people had belief in, we would be seeing now an outpour of support for the martial law.

It has always been leadership. You cannot support a leader you have no respect to begin with in the first place. Leadership is not a right, it is a privilege to a given few that exudes the aura of being able to lead a platoon, a barkada or a country for this matter. It is destiny to be able to lead. There is a wide gap of leading a country thru cheating and leading a nation because you are destined to lead it in the first place. Respect is earned as much as leadership is. The Ampatuan assholes and their mother GMA should know that respect for a leader is the exact opposite of being terrified of the self-proclaimed leader so as their orders to be followed blindly.

If you ask me if I support martial law in Maguindanao, as a human being with animal instincts I would tell you that I’m all for it so that the Amapatuan assholes be made to answer for their crimes. I’ve been asking my friends since Andal Ampatuan Jr., the dickhead got ‘invited’ over the office of the NBI that we take in our own hands as to how to torture Ampatuan to near death every day for the rest of their lives. I am in the most extreme terms, aghast and outraged to the massacre that has happened to the women, children and journalists at Maguindanao. There is the demon in me that demanding that an eye from the Ampatuan assholes for the eye of the women, children and journalists.

If GMA and her sick excuse of an administration allowed Lady Justice to dispense verdicts with her blindfolds on, there is no need for the martial law. Keep in mind that a suspected snatcher or robber is handcuffed and manhandled by authorities in front of the cameras. We have the Ampatuan assholes being ‘invited’ for questioning without handcuffs.

GMA’s leadership is the root of this massacre, it is her political debt to the Ampatuan assholes that fueled their wisdom that they are gaddam demigods in the Maguindanao and probably the whole Philippines. Well as history has taught us, they are not. And we should prove them that. If we be like that someone I know who I asked what is his reaction to the Ampatuan massacre, and his reply is “alam na nila magulo sa Mindanao, bakit pa sila pupunta dun” then we have already served the Philippines to the warlords on a silver platter, if GMA hadn’t done so already.

Again, do I support martial law in Maguindanao? The demons and animal in my being a human being does. But that is why we as human beings are the highest level among living things. We live with norms. There are raging hormones that we have to keep in check for us to be humans. Just because we have the urge to steal or kill or maim and knowing that doing so would make us a lot happier than anyone else does not and will not authorize us to do so. If we allow ourselves to be like the Ampatuan assholes, if we stoop down to their level, we are not doing justice for the women, children and journalist of the massacre. So no matter how slow and inefficient our justice system is, we have to live within the rules, lest we try to rehabilitate our justice system for it to better dispense justice.

But I am no sacred cow and I have done things and lived some of my life most of you would be ashamed to tell anyone else, I have done inexplicable things. And it would be no surprise if I give in to the demons in me, let us all torture the Ampatuans to near death every day for the rest of their lives, never mind if I live outside the norms, for this case of the women, children and journalists massacred in Maguindanao, I am denouncing myself as a human being. I am volunteering to be the one to give the animal instinct verdict everyone would like to happen but are living inside the norms and are afraid to ask. Again, torture the Ampatuans to near death every day for the rest of their lives.

It has been said something as small as the flutter of a butterfly's wing can ultimately cause a typhoon halfway around the world. – Chaos theory

FACT: When we denude the mountains of forests and then rain falls in epic proportions, the end result-landslides and floods.

“The death toll from tropical depression “Pepeng" rose to 264 Saturday afternoon as rescue workers dug up more bodies of missing people, reports from police and relief agencies said.

Of the total, 222 were killed in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), mostly from landslides, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).” – GMANews.TV, October 11, 2009

FACT: When we do not segregate waste and those non-biodegradables clogs the sewers and waterways and then the rain falls in epic proportions, the end result-floods knee-deep to two-storeys high.

“Battered by ceaseless rain, San Jose and 17 others, including a two-year-old child, were trapped on a roof of a printing press by floodwaters just outside Provident Village for more than 17 hours from noontime on Saturday until early Sunday morning. “ – Philip Tubeza, Philippine Daily Inquirer, September 30, 2009

FACT: When we feed the environment with heavy carbon footprints from our vehicle exhausts and the like, we get to experience erratic weather changes like stronger typhoons, the end result- floods.

“Warming of ocean surface waters because of climate change is likely to lead to an increase in the intensity of tropical storms, with higher peak wind speeds and heavier rainfall. Meaning, typhoons will be more damaging. Scientists from the National Center for Atmospheric Research and Institute of Technology have concluded that warmer sea surface temperatures and altered wind patterns associated with global warming are responsible for increases in the number of hurricanes/typhoons.” – www.ltscotland.org.uk

FACT:  Typhoon Ondoy and Pepeng that left the Philippines devastated and placed the entire country under a state of calamity is a product of climate change.

“The government on Friday placed the country under a state of national calamity in preparation for the expected onslaught on Saturday afternoon of typhoon 'Pepeng' (international name 'Parma'). The expected landfall is in Cagayan province in northern Luzon.” – GMANews.TV, October 2, 2009

FACT: Most locations in the Philippines that went underwater during the said typhoons are still submerged in flood.

“Pepeng may have already left Philippine territory three days ago, but vast swaths in Northern and Central Luzon are still engulfed by flood, with nearly the whole of Nueva Ecija province still submerged in flood waters, and with Arayat town in Pampanga province surprisingly hit by up to seven-feet floods.” – GMANews.TV, October 14, 2009

FACT: Hundreds perished during the onslaught of the said typhoons and hundreds more are still waiting to perish due to outbreaks of flood-borne diseases.

“While in the thick of controlling dengue cases, health officials in the Cagayan Valley Region are now preparing for a possible outbreak of waterborne diseases due to flooding caused by typhoon Pepeng. Dr. Tita Callueng, the regional health director, said that waterborne diseases such as cholera and skin infections have been recorded in some municipalities, with already five deaths attributed to leptospirosis.” – GMANews.TV, October 15, 2009

These are the facts that we face today. When faced with the fact that your days are numbered, what do you do? The climate as we know now is on the terminal stage changing for the worst for us.

As a species, we have to survive, and to survive we have to be responsible for every action we create and be knowledgeable of its effect to the environment and the climate.

We WILL not survive another ice age. The earth as we know it will evolve and repair itself with or without us. It is what we feed the earth that will eventually be the recipe for our destruction as a whole or its rehabilitation.

The fact remains, if we continue abusing the environment and the climate changes as rapid as it is changing now, the end result is simple –We all die.

Cory

“Hindi ko nga alam kung ano ang na-contribute ni Cory sa bansa natin eh” this was the exact phrase a younger office mate told me when I asked him if he was going to the wake or the funeral of Cory Aquino last Tuesday.   I was surprised then, and I immediately asked him if he is fond of watching Naruto or Dragonball Z, in turn, he promptly said that he does. I said that given the numerous accomplishments of Cory Aquino, one is that he wouldn’t be watching Naruto if it wasn’t for Cory or the EDSA revolution. During the time of the dictatorship, even Voltes V was banned from the television. If it wasn’t for Cory, all anime or cartoons that insinuates revolting for freedom or a noble cause wouldn’t reach our shores, take the example or Burma or South Korea where even the Internet is policed or monks are massacred.

Now that conversation has got me asking, how could a generation just eight years my junior would have not known who and what Cory represents? Has the daily grind finally taken its toll on the Filipinos love for country? Did the Department of Education remove Philippine History from its curriculum already? Have we already drowned in the GMA-era that there are no more good people amongst us?

It is like what they always do whenever there is a rally for the betterment of our government; they would rather go to work or school.

Now we have a prime example of Filipino who sacrificed for her country, for her love of God, country and family and in that exact same order. Cory Aquino braved everything to give a democracy that is our basic right in the first place. Be it in the streets or in churches or in rain. be it with Jun Lozada or against a former ally she helped install to power, realizing the mistake she has done years after and admitting that mistake and asking for forgiveness—a trait that is only reserved for the purest and noblest of hearts. Cory Aquino has gave life to the words that if a little economic instability and getting drenched wet is the sacrifice we should make for a better country then we should all make that sacrifice.

Cortege

The procession will pass along Quirino so we positioned ourselves on top of the island dividing the two lanes. It took over an hour for it to pass us and as we anxiously stood there waiting, the sun did shone and the rains subsided a little as the cortege was leaving Manila Cathedral, and if you believe in signs, that is one sign. Another is, according to our grandparents especially in the provinces, the heavens do weep when it rains on the day of the burial.

So there we were, and there were children and they were chanting CORY! CORY! CORY! And these were children, probably in the elementary level or should be in elementary but I guess their parents could not afford their education. They knew Cory, my officemate did not. These are kids; my officemate is an adult, so much for that. I was rubbing elbows with people of different races, age and smell. I told them this is history and we all are now part of one.

You go to the wake lining up for five hours or you wait or walk alongside the funeral procession for hours to give honor and show gratitude to the last great president of the Philippines.

If my grandchildren, if I were to live up to that age, were to ask me, where I was when Cory Aquino died, I could proudly tell them, that I wasn’t sleeping because it was a special non-working holiday; I wasn’t nursing a heavy hangover because I drank too much the evening before; I wasn’t allied with a fake president;  I did not just let it pass because that day I was with Cory Aquino in the streets, waited for hours just to have a glimpse or some black and white photos of her casket passing by while flashing the Laban sign and feeling proud that I am a Filipino.

Sign

Even in death Cory Aquino served her last sacrifice to those who would abuse or again take back the freedom that she helped restore, if it wasn’t already not taken from us again in the first place. With the elections months away and talk of cha-cha is murmured in every coffee shop or tambayan. Cory’s funeral will serve as a warning to those squatting in power that if they continue to defame us as one people and nation, these many people that showed their gratitude for Cory can always again gather in same or higher numbers to thwart whatever unholy concoction they are brewing for them to stay in power forever. There are signs and there are warning signs. If you do not heed to a roadblock, the road always and most of the time end violently.

Times

Up to now I still could not get over what my officemate said. I could brand him as one stupid idiot for saying so but I know the guy, being stupid is not what he is, but then again maybe he is one I may have been blinded by the fact that I look up to software engineers because I am also one, but maybe that is where the similarities end. You can be one very good programmer, but then you are just that. And in all honesty, not knowing what Cory did for our country is the height of one’s stupidity. For finality, it just now as I write this, that I am resigned to the fact that he truly is one stupid idiot.

It is what we do in this lifetime that will echo who we are in eternity. Cory Aquino’s echo is an eternity.

My generation or generations after me will tell that I lived to see Michael Jackson, Barack Obama, Michael Jordan, the Eraserheads, Jim Cameron, Al Pacino, Ninoy Aquino, Neil Armstrong, Bill Gates, Francis Magalona, Steve Jobs, Manny Pacquiao and the like.

However, let me tell them more proudly that I lived during the lifetime of a great president and a national hero, St. Corazon Aquino.

for everyone

Last time an Aquino that I know died, a revolution was sparked.

As much as I would like to write this post without political color, I cannot. Corazon Aquino is a political person and all she has done would be without appreciation if what she has done for politics is ignored. Almost all the good men  and women of this country has died already while those bad men and women with heart ailments, dirty mouths and silicon bursts have not. So this short post in honor of Corazon Aquino will start and end the same.

Death and taxes…

Heaven and hell…

So where is heaven? And where the hell is hell? I am a Catholic by heart, however, let me share what I presume of the gates of St. Peter is. It has been said that we live eternally in heaven or burn forever in hell depending on how we lived out our lifetime.  Now then, maybe St. Peter is the symbol of those we leave when we die. It is the very persons who know us during our lifetime who will judge us for eternal damnation or exalt us up the high pedestals in history for the following generations to look up to.

Adolph Hitler’s  legacy is getting a child ‘confiscated’ from his very parents because his parents was dumb enough to name him Adolph Hitler while Jose Rizal got schools and institutions named after him with honor. Now you begin to wonder what legacy will the present squatter at Malacanang will extol on us.

We now all know even before 3:18 am of this first day of August what Corazon Aquino’s legacy is. She is the first woman president of this country. She was the one who showed the world that being just a house wife is not just being one. She has showed the world that a loving mother and an understanding wife can also be a great leader. She has showed that a woman can topple a dictatorship and that no matter how big everyone thinks Ninoy Aquino casted his shadow on her, she can also do the same as long as the premise of anyone actions is for the good of everyone.

Corazon Aquino dismantled a dictatorship. She has reinstalled democracy. She gave us back the freedom that should have been ours in the first place. The internet where we are free to blog now or the text messages that we forward to our entire phone book would have been foreign to us if not because of her. Her leadership has pre-packaged for the post-EDSA generation the liberties that we now take for granted.

Corazon Aquino in her own whispering ways has shouted to the world that, there is a country called the Republic of the Philippines. She has acted silently and peacefully the roar and thunder that there are Filipinos in this far side of the globe. She was already there before Manny Pacquiao, Charice Pempengco or the dancing inmates of Cebu.

If I were to enumerate the collections of what Corazon Aquino has done for each and every one for us, it would take all my overtime hours for this Saturday. So given what she has done, how do you give thanks to someone like her? How does the earth thank the sun? How does the palay thank the rain? How do we thank our mothers who nurse us when we are sick? How do we as a nation thank a great leader? Probably the last great president we will ever know. I really cannot answer that, I know that my simple “THANK YOU, TITA CORY” would not suffice.

Last time an Aquino that I know died, a revolution was sparked.

You have to pity Hayden and Katrina and the gossiped other 40 ladies Hayden took videos of. Since this scandal has dwarfed all other news these past few weeks including the A-H1N1 positive cases here in the Philippines, forgive me for jumping into the chismis bandwagon add the fact that everywhere I go this scandal is the topic of any Juan, Maria or Arnelita, for that, this merits a thorough review or analysis, what may have happened, who did what and why was it done, and for whom.

Now for my disclaimer: what you’re about to read is not a fact, this is my mere analysis or opinion, based on my own experiences and as to how I’ve dealt and profiled persons I’ve been with. This is also not to sow hate or to build praise for the purpose of maligning anyone or uplifting any personality. Bear in mind that each and everyone of us is entitled to our freedom of opinion, as much as some senators despise Hayden and has been very vocal about it and as much as some sectors pity Hayden for being a victim too, even before the senate “in aid of legislation” circus inquiry ends.

This is a blog and I consider myself a journalist as what I was before, only this time, my newspaper is this site and my opinion column is this page.

As news of this scandal blew wide open, we can establish, based from mass media that Hayden took the videos, some of them were taken with consent of the lady concerned, while most were taken without such. We can also establish the key persons in this case which are: Hayden, Katrina, Bistek, Erik and Vicky. I opted not to include the others since at the time of this writing they haven’t come out yet to dispute their videos.

Now, there are two rumours that have been circulating as to what stemmed this scandal. First, Hayden’s friend hacked his laptop and sold the videos for two or four million pesos. And now the videos are in the hands of a syndicate.

The second is that Hayden fucked the living daylights out of Bistek’s girl, girl had conscience and told Bistek, who in turn to get back at Hayden, told Vicky that Hayden has videos of his sexual encounters in a laptop, Vicky asks Erik to hack laptop and there it is.

The first rumour is possible. Money talks a lot, and since you can’t trust cell phone snatchers with a thousand peso Nokia, hell, you can’t trust someone with Vaio containing videos worth over a million. But then there’s a loophole, why just now? If the gossip is true that there are 40 other videos, why wait Katrina to be included for you to hack said laptop, the close friend could’ve hacked it a long time ago, then hack it again if ever Hayden brags that he’s included Katrina in his collection, anyway, Hayden is as much a celebrity as Katrina is and those other videos without Katrina could have sold as fast like those 10-peso reload bullets in a firing range.

Now the second rumour is a simple one with a reason as simple enough, it was all about revenge, Bistek’s and Vicky’s revenge. A shame is worth more than a million pesos or two or four for that matter. A million pesos comes and goes. Ten minutes is all you need in the baccarat table and you can kiss that much money goodbye, but what has befallen those in the videos will last a very long time whether be it in the corner tambayans, coffee shops, office breaks or sanmig light sessions.

Both rumours offer a dilemma, first is money and the other is revenge. As to what is simpler among the two, I leave that to you. If the friend sold it for money and that alone being the reason, I don’t buy it. You can profile the both Erik and Bistek and you could very well tell that since both are doctors, a gain of two or four million wouldn’t do that much gain for both. I know that a million is already a fortune for most Filipinos, but doctors? Nah, that’s just loose change for em docs. Now the second rumour has the entire factor for this to turn out to be a melodrama, like what most of my fellow countrymen have been doing with their TV. The reason so simple enough that you have to ask yourself, why resort to that tactic when you could’ve just severed the ties. Well, it ain’t enough. I know certain individuals who would resort to that second rumour instead of just letting go.

Now, the whys of the whos for the whoms given that any of the two rumours is true.

Erik is dragged into both rumours. He was the hacker. He may have been paid or may have not. His actions were the key as to why the videos was leaked or sold and what has now become a box-office hit among the pirates and pirate consumers. You can very well point the fucking fingers at Erik and say that’s the bad guy. But hell, no. in this world where the flapping of a fly’s wing in a far away continent can be also the very cause of a tsunami someplace else, Erik is not the only one in this web of not so intricate controversy.

Katrina is a prominent personality. The sin from her is that she is a celebrity, remove that star status and Hayden would be the prominent victim. She knew or may not that Hayden is Vicky’s dude, still, even elementary studes from my town knows the Vicky-Hayden tandem, and if they knew, who wouldn’t,  yet still, she did it, which can be said is another fucking sin. That is what I have been warning some friends of mine all these years. Do not be unlucky with the one you choose to fuck. There are partees and there are men who are like that or more of that shit that Hayden did. You have to be very careful and not that I’m holier than thou, it’s just that I know this shit and some men who does this shit.

Bistek only figured in the second rumour. And what would a friend do to a friend who fucked his girl, well he can be a man and talk to Hayden about it man to man and dropped the bitch or he can pull the trigger and plead temporary insanity. Any of the two, a man would do, but no, he has to be less than that and resort to what no man would do, which is what is rumoured that he did. If the rumours turns out to be true, this dickhead is just what he(?) is no dick below just a head above like a fucking cock.

Vicky, Vicky, Vicky. Why the flight? If the second rumour is to be believed she has the much to be gained in this brouhaha. But then again if a woman is always behind a great man’s downfall, as much as our history tends to prove, it can always go the other way around. I have to agree with Vicky on what she said that if the guy already has a gal, careful, careful. What I disagree, in case the second rumour is true, is her taste of getting back at Hayden and Katrina. Coming from a woman, I can understand that, very slightly though. Still, it leaves a bitter taste in the mouth, a very bitter one.

Finally, Hayden, we have come a long way since the advent of diaries and voice recorders, he has argued that those videos he took were his version of a diary. Honestly, he has a point. As much as any written diary or blog, it is still our freedom of choice on the mode of how to document our lives. It's pretty much like a diary, where you write your innermost secrets that you wouldn’t want anyone to know that you would rather take to your grave, he should have taken extra measure to secure his video diary. I encrypt my files 128 bits, he should’ve done that too. Technology as we now know it has leapt a thousand-fold. He should have foreseen that in the event that his laptop is hacked or stolen, those video diaries he took, in the wrong hands, can be a very powerful tool against him or those in it.

So now, how or where do we point our fucking fingers? Given that the ladies in those videos did not knew they were being videotaped, Hayden should take the fall. Given that Katrina knew that she’s fucking a dude already taken, well, that’s what fell on her. She could’ve saved herself this embarrassment had she learned how to keep her raging hormones in check. If Bistek’s non-manly hood is the reason then he should get his head examined, a girlfriend fucking your friend? Exact better revenge is that you fuck your friend’s girl too, in this case Vicky. But then again, who can stomach fucking a science project? Hayden perhaps, err only.  Erik? Now what does he have to prove? That he can hack a laptop? Anyone with background in computers can do that. Or maybe Erik did wanna try fucking a science project like Hayden. We will never know.

Katrina and all the other ladies in the videos are victims and so is Hayden, so let’s not start pouring water over anyone heads for the time being. And Hayden can also stop with his counter non-sense that Katrina pushed his drugs. That is so “oh so long ago.”  Given that what Hayden is saying true, still he took the drugs, he liked it, so deal with it dude.

This is a clear case of star-crossed lovers crossing boundaries over each other. This is a winning recipe for an afternoon or late-night soap. And seeing how the senate has once again is milking this scandal for all its publicity’s worth and the elections months away, expect the key persons in this scandal to be more scandalized. There is an executive session in the senate for this kind of special case. Do I have to lecture deym senators that a rape victim is even placed under an alias and her face covered from the cameras. Katrina’s fate is parallel to a rape victim. If the senate wants to help, do it behind closed doors. Do it outside the camera lights. But then again it wouldn’t profit deym politicians to help.

And for those men who are holier than thou, take off the fucking hypocrisy. There are fetishes and there are fetishes, this case fell on the wrong hands. Do not strut to be not like Hayden, you have your own style, they have they’re own. Do not be holier than me or them or he. You stink, like an overflowing septic tank. To each his own, muthafuckas

To the ladies, do not fuck a guy because of his damn dimples or Adam’s apple, fuck for character and learn how to find that character. You could spread em legs for those long curly locks without knowing that there’s a hidden cam behind the closet. And be very sorry later.

I was gonna post this last weekend but had other very pressing affairs. I would just like to add an argument to what that Boy said last Sunday.  He said it was not his dear senator who is being inquired into by the senate in aid of legislation. So let’s not make this a case of his dear senator. But then again, if there is an investigation by any fact-finding body of a crime, say for example plunder, does it not make a lot of sense that you do not include Erap in the fact-finding body?

I was asked last Sunday who am I gonna blame for this scandal, I blame all of them, all of them should take the fall. There can be no vindication if the premise of your action is a already a mistake in the first place and taking all subjectivity aside, and this is a reiteration, the videos are like diary that got stolen or has fallen on the wrong hands. Whoever wrote the diary can turn state witness, like what Chavit did, well at least for this country. And even if the videos can be likened to a diary-a modern diary, Hayden is not yet off the hook. We live in a democracy and our liberties are not absolute, your freedom ends, when it begins to threaten my freedom.

Manang's talong with bagoong isda and calamansi was so delicious, i downed two orders of rice with it, add the porkchop steak I chose as a side and it got me very sleepy after lunch and then my boss sent me the link to this award winning short film. My sleepy demons vanished after watching this, and yours should too. And you know what you should too? Repost it too. I give my two thumbs up for Fernando.
Have you got any food? Have you got no heart?

Think of this a a post Christmas gift or should I say "HELL! TO THE STREETS Y'ALL!"

"Text messages are not just tiny; they are also free riders, tucked into what’s called a control channel, space reserved for operation of the wireless network.

That’s why a message is so limited in length: it must not exceed the length of the message used for internal communication between tower and handset to set up a call.

The channel uses space whether or not a text message is inserted."

Yeah, telcos provided the capital and the hardware for networks but then again, since SMS is free, aren't we being overcharged? SO what do we do?

Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all of you!

Start 2009 right, SMS is free!

Eisenheim said it’s been a very, very, very toxic, draining, tiring, hell of a three-week work schedule. I’ll do this in a first person narrative, I’m still in a degenerative state of a hang over, me and Eisenheim downed buckets of SML last night and I think I’ll save up on my fingerprints by not quoting Eisenheim with every sentence I do. The following paragraphs is Eisenheim talking…

You go to work at 7:00am and you expect to go home by 5:00pm, Not! You do not go home at 5:00pm; not 6:00pm; not 7:00pm and certainly not 8:00pm, in fact sometimes you do not go home at all and if you do it has to at midnight because that is how it works and you repeat the same scenario for the coming weeks. Well fuck it, and fuck me, if that is how its gonna be then that’s the way it is. That is how the fuck is gonna be? Not if I can do something about it.

But then again I love what I’m doing, I dream of this job, in fact I dream of my job when I’m dreaming, imagine lucid use case diagrams, ERD, fucking swimlanes. Dammit! Well, that is how analyzing systems has gotten to drill down on me. Still, I welcome it.

What I do not welcome are the two dudes that we put under the alias of batman & robin. They are heads & vice heads of the IT department of the wannabe school I’m talking about, and then there’s gelatin, he is the son of the wannabe school I’m talking about and he acts like he is the president-elect of the said wannabe school well, besides acting like a stupid idiot who thinks he knows and owns everything, which I know he is not. I remember someone who looks like gelatin years back, same features and same traits, well he took two hits from me and then he laid sprawled on the ground, saliva dripping with, of course blood from his nostrils and temple. He never ever did want to see me again.

If gelatin persists in how he is, I guarantee that he’ll share the same fate of my former acquaintance. He can take batman & robin with him and I’ll add some vodka, triple sec, lime and ice and I assure you they’ll be more grounded than the kamikaze mix which I have perfected, perfectly.

Deym it! Imperfection on me! I forgot to describe batman & robin. Add to what I said two paragraphs earlier, those two dudes are the epitome of insecurity. It’s is not bad to be insecure in my book as long as you take it as a challenge, more of like constructive insecurity where you work on you insecurity to be secure. Get it? Hope so. Batman & robin, besides acting like insecure stupid idiots like gelatin are the exact opposite of the positive insecurity I’m talking about.

Batman & robin, my apologies to the comic book characters, stabs you in the back. Deym! Deym! Deym! There was just recently concluded status meeting. Well besides, the perfection, which those imperfect sons of bitches are asking us of, we got introduced to a whole new dimension in the arsenal of the backstabbing lunatics. They have a checklist of all the things that we did. Literally, a fucking checklist, which they did not show us, but gelatin saw.

Remember when you were in grade school? There is always someone assigned to write on the board how many times you violated the rules while the teacher was out. That is batman & robin and gelatin is the teacher that is out, always out, out of his fucking mind. Well, deym it! Client-oriented bullshit, horseshit, cow dung! But then again, that is the way it is and that is how its gonna fucking be. Maybe or maybe not, we’ll see.

I know it’s their job, to write on the board? To be always on the look out for mistakes? Or to manufacture mistakes just because they don’t fucking understand how enterprise development works. Again, it is the output that fucking matters. Ladies and gentlemen, if I dish out excellent or just below excellent crops it doesn’t matter how many cancer sticks I light, OK? OK? Is that OK? Are we clear? CLEAR?

CRYSTAL! I hope.

These are men of the academe, these sorry excuse of men of the academe molds the youth. And these is how their mind works, chilling isn’t it? These very men of the academe are the ones who the parents has entrusted to mold the good manners and right conduct of their children.

Imagine, a fucking checklist! Seriously, how LOW can you get? DAMN FUCKS!

That is Eisenheim talking, me? I’m into deep of a hangover to fucking object.

BGM: SERGIO MENDEZ – TAKE THIS LOVE

Eisenheim said that I don’t ever confuse that he does not like his job, he loves his job, and it is actually what he dreamt of what a job should be. It’s the client that is the fucking problem.  Eisenheim believes that those wannabes are jealous or just plain insecure with them.  He said that those fucking A-holes just can’t fucking believe that their multi-million peso system is gonna be delivered by some happy-go-lucky geniuses.

They are all armed with masteral and doctorate degrees and they are probably asking themselves why the fuck can they not develop in-house. Well fuck that, their pimple-riddled face gives them away. And why is that? They hafta stay up all night to learn, Eisenheim does not. And that spells all the difference and that says it all.

That is the fucking reason why Eisenheim chose to be working in the industry and not in the academe. Though he says that he would soon be an industry lecturer in his alma mater, he said he would never ever thread the wrong path those clients of him took.

Take this case for example, one time Eisenheim and his team were having lunch in the campus cafeteria, they were exchanging jokes and there was this one moment when they all laughed so hard because the joke was very funny. Again the academe said that Eisenheim and his team should never do that again because, well, because they are consultants and experts and they should not laugh for all the students to see.

Do you fucking get it?

Alright I’ll try not to be biased for Eisenheim, BUT think of it this way, what we do in our lunch breaks is what we do as long as there is no law being disobeyed then so be it, right? Eisenheim’s immediate superior even said that they should all take the shit thrown at them he further said that “if our client is Japanese then we should be removing our shoes when we come to work” well, Eisenheim fucking gets it, alright. But why the hell weren’t there any guidelines ruled out in the first place.

And still, smoking and being happy is a crime now? I fucking hope not.

Eisenheim was furious that day. He invited me for drinks and was very hot-headed during the start of our session. I asked him what the fuck is up, and it took a while to convince him to tell me what the hell happened that day.

It was work-related to say the least. Eisenheim was scolded by his boss, not actually the scolding that you might imagine, but more of like something to that effect. It was never really directed at him, but for the whole team. You see, Eisenheim is also a systems analyst for the firm where he works.  He also doubles as a developer because that is what he knows his forte is, developing and coding software.

Most developers/programmers here in the Philippines go to work in smart casual clothes sometimes some developers go to work in casual clothes with their long hairs fluttering in the wind. But where Eisenheim works, it’s mandatory that they come in business attires or polo barongs. Eisenheim has no qualms in wearing those kinds of clothes; he actually prefers it that way. The only problem is their current client.

Their present client according to Eisenheim is one of the many educational institutions in the Philippines. Eisenheim does not want to divulge the name due to non-disclosure agreements, so I have no idea what school or university it is that he is referring to. He just made sure that their client is not at level or is NOT La Salle, UP or Ateneo.  Their client is an upstart wannabe according to him.

I asked Eisenheim how he could possibly say that their client is a wannabe. Eisenheim said that if you study at UP there are designated places where students can hang-out inside the campus, they can even smoke at some places inside the campus and students are given liberties that most adults enjoy. It’s the other way around with their client.

Eisenheim said that he smokes during breaks outside the gates of said campus. But that did not stop their client from using that as a reason, a negative one for him. Their client said that since they are what they consider as consultants or experts, they cannot just light up outside the gates for all the students to see.

Now that is what made Eisenheim very furious. At this point of our conversation, he was mouthing invectives around 25 per minute. Eisenheim further said that since when did being a smoker diminish one’s dignity? Since when did being a smoker diminish one’s respectability? I have to agree on Eisenheim on that. I, too, am a smoker. Fidel Castro is a smoker, former Pres. Ramos is a smoker.

Eisenheim said he could provide a long list of smokers who are very well respected in their respective fields and territories.  If we’re trying to erase racial discrimination, then we should also eradicate smokers’ discrimination he further said. Think of it this way, according to Eisenheim, what we do in our break time, is what we do. If he wants to smoke during that time then so be it. As long as he smokes where it is allowed to smoke, and Eisenheim remembers no law verbal or written that it is forbidden to smoke outside the property line of said client.

Eisenheim was very clear and firm on his statements, as long as he can provide the needed output his job requires then so be it, it does not matter how many breaks he takes, how many smokes he lights, as long as the output is at par or most of the time above average, he should have the liberties that are most basic and common with every Filipino.

for everyone

Let me introduce to you a very close friend of mine, but for confidentiality purposes and some topics that would probably be blurted out here that would be damning to him or anyone around him, legally or illegally, I’ll keep him under the name, Eisenheim.

Eisenheim is a very close friend of mine and we’ve known each other since childhood, before the Atari or IBM PC XT was released for public consumption.  We grew up sharing some secrets that most of my friends did not want to or would ever want to share. Now before I indulged myself into this writing frenzy which I know would reveal his or even my deepest and darkest secret. I asked Eisenheim’s permission first. He gladly agreed that I could tell it all as long as I keep him under an alias.

I could very well introduce him a-la biographical, chronological intro or I could forego of that boring part and just add bits and pieces of his history as I go along. Anyway so much of that, but let me first highlight his and my similarities. Eisenheim is the same age as me. He also works in a software company. And we’ve both been through the hellish hells and, I hope, the ‘heavenest’ of heavens. We both love San Mig Light and we both could down two liters each of Cuervo Gold when we were much younger than we are now.

Eisenheim also went to Singapore and like me he went back here and then worked here. He also blogs but his blogs went dormant when he landed his job a couple of months back. Again, so much of the effin similarities, however I could not determine any trait that differentiates us, well, I am Don and my friend’s name is Eisenheim and I’m going to write loads and loads of blog posts from what I remember of the stories I heard from Eisenheim.
